Service Projects
Started in the spring following the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the Daffodil Project is now in its 21st year.
Run by New Yorkers for Parks, the effort is one of the largest volunteer initiatives in city history and is a living memorial remembering the victims of the terror attacks on that terrible morning.
The William Sidney Mount Elementary School, PS 174 in Rego Park, is thrilled to be a part of the Daffodil Project.
After parent volunteers prepared the beds recently, teacher Marie Russell and her fifth-grade class planted 1,200 bulbs with her class, twice as many as the 600 planted last year.
Once again, the students were proud to do their part in remembrance of the victims of 9/11.
The superheroes at P.S.174 joined forces on October 31st to raise $2000 to help the March of Dimes save babies! We had so much fun bringing back the WonderWalk, a tradition that we started doing in our school in 2006. Thank you so much to our generous families who help the children soar, even when they aren’t wearing their capes!
