I will learn about:

PRINTMAKING so that I CAN use a sponge to STAMP flowers and cardboard to stamp stems and leaves, using REPETITION.

SHAPE so that I CAN draw or trace and then cut HALF hearts for the bean plant’s leaves.

PATTERN so that I CAN alternate the COLORS of the pom-poms for my caterpillar’s body.

Animal Weaving-Weaving and Texture

Snail Collage Sculpture

 

I will learn about:

The artist DOROTHY LIEBES so that I CAN create a WEAVING inspired by her.

PATTERN so that I CAN use the UNDER-OVER pattern of weaving.

TEXTURE so that I CAN add texture LINES to my animal and create texture by WEAVING or WRAPPING the yarn.

I will learn about:

FORM so that I CAN create a THREE-DIMENSIONAL snail out of Model Magic.

COLLAGE so that I CAN OVERLAP squares of tissue paper on the snail’s shell to add COLOR.

TEXTURE so that I CAN create a glossy surface on the snail’s shell with Mod Podge.

Da Vinci Inspired Sculptures

I will create a sculpture that demonstrates:

additive and/or subtractive techniques

imaginative ability to build with and mold materials: clay: rolling, pinching

exploration with making textures such as rough, scratchy, or smooth

organization of parts to whole

I will:

Continue to explore the artist, scientist, and inventor Leonardo Da Vinci by observing his sketchbook drawings

Create my own sculpture based on my previous sketch

Engage in class discussions about my artwork, give peer feedback, present my work to my classmates, and participate in a Gallery Walk

Pop Art Inspired Animal Prints

I will:

View and discuss the work of Andy Warhol

Discuss and understand the idea of pop culture and how it influences art.

Learn about LINE so that I CAN draw my animal and use different types of LINES to add details to the composition.

Learn about SPACE so that I CAN print from the POSITIVE SPACE in my drawing as a result of pressing down the NEGATIVE SPACE in the foam.

Explore and learn new art vocabulary terms connected to printmaking

Learn about REPETITION and COLOR, so that I CAN create a repeat pattern in the style of Andy Warhol. I’ll know I have it when I have repeated one shape in multiple colors.

Wayne Thiebaud Inspired Food Sculpture Art

Hot Air Balloon Collages

I will learn:

About the artist Wayne Thiebaud, so that I CAN understand what inspired his work and identify examples of his art.

How to observe works of art, describe content within a composition, and create questions that involve critical thinking skills

About the properties of clay, how to translate a 2-dimensional drawing into a 3-dimensional object exploring the theme of food.

I will learn about:

FORM so that I CAN create THREE-DIMENSIONAL hot air balloons by folding and gluing my balloon shapes together.

MOVEMENT so that I CAN WEAVE a hot air balloon shape onto a paper strip so that it can move up and down.

SPACE so that I CAN create large hot air balloons for the FOREGROUND and small balloons for my BACKGROUND.

Wenzel Hablik Inspired Universe

I will learn:

How to participate in a Gallery Walk in art and closely observe works of art -How to observe works of art, describe content within a composition, and create questions that involve critical thinking skills

Czech artist WENZEL HABLIK, so that I CAN identify some of his art and use it as inspiration.

STENCILS, so that I CAN use this technique to create a ragged mountain range in my art.

FORM, so that I CAN add shadows or dark areas to my planets making them appear to be 3D.
